RGU have recently introduced new sign-on arrangements that we now utilise to log in to a range of services such as CampusMoodle, Citrix and Library services. The new log in method uses Microsoft authentication and therefore you must log in using your RGU email account, e.g. a.name@rgu.ac.uk.
The following guidance has been produced to support users that have experienced issues logging in to RGU services, in particular those with more than one Microsoft account [such as a work email account]. We would like to advise you on several solutions that you can follow to correct this issue.
Can we request that you complete the following actions prior to raising a support call. Please note: if one action enables access, you do not need to complete all actions that follow:
Solution 1: Utilise a different “Use another account” - I.e., asking the device/web browser to use your @rgu.ac.uk account over your work account.
Step A. Log out of other MS accounts [if you can].
Step B. Navigate to CampusMoodle and Choose the “RGU Account” log in button.
Step B. Choose “Use another account”
Step C. Enter your user details and attempt to log in.
If this allows access, continue to utilise this method to log in.
If no access is granted, continue to Solution 2.
Solution 2: Using a different “Organisational Account” – Accessing the rgu.ac.uk domain rather than your work domain.
Step A. Log out of other MS accounts [if you can].
Step B. Navigate to CampusMoodle and choose the “RGU Account” log in button.
Step B. Choose “Use another account”
Step C. Select “Sign-in options”
Step D. Select “Sign in to an organisation”
Step E. Find RGU by inputting “rgu.ac.uk” in the field displayed and selecting the “Next” button.
Step F. Enter your user details and attempt to log in.
If this allows access, continue to utilise this method to log in.
If no access is granted, continue to Solution 3.
Solution 3: Utilise a private or incognito browser session – This will stop your browser from trying to link stored data from your work account to your RGU account.
While using Chrome –
On your computer, open “Chrome”.
At the top right, click “More” and then “New incognito window”.
A new window appears. At the top corner, check for the “Incognito icon”.
You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open an incognito window:
Windows, Linux or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n.
Mac: Press ⌘ + Shift + n.
You can switch between incognito windows and normal Chrome windows. You'll only browse in private when you're using an incognito window.
While using Microsoft Edge -
select the Settings and More icon,
and then “New InPrivate window”.
While using Safari or Firefox –
Open a new “Private Window” from the Safari or Firefox menu
Click the menu button [3 dash icon] and then click “New Private Window”.
The Private Browsing home page will open in a new window.
If this allows access, continue to utilise this method to log in.
If no access is granted, continue to Solution 4.
Solution 4: Local IT request
If you are still unable to access the required area, you will need to contact your local IT team and seek permission to add rgu.ac.uk as an alternative sign in domain.
In this instance, the restrictions applied by your workplace IT policies may be preventing logging into RGU services. To gain access via your workplace device you must be able to login to a secondary Microsoft tenancy [rgu.ac.uk] either via adding an additional account or via a separate browser or private window. Please raise a request with your local IT department to see if this can be implemented on your device.
Please make the local IT team aware of the importance of access on your device. Access to the rgu.ac.uk domain is vital for you to access the materials you require for your studies.
