Setting up laptop for a docking station.
1: First ensure that all screens you with to display to are wired to the docking station and powered on.
2: Once all screens are connected to the docking station please press the "Windows button and P" at the same time This will display the following menu:
3: Please choose extend as this will extend the image across all of your screens creating one large desktop. As you move the mouse from one screen it will appear on the next one appearing as one large desktop.
4: Please right click on the desktop background and choose display settings or type Display Settings into the search bar to the bottom left of the desktop.
5: From “Display settings” you are able to arrange how your screens are laid out. With 2 monitors you have the option of
A: having the laptop lid closed and just using the 2 monitors on your desk
B: having the laptop lid open and using the 2 monitors as well as your laptop as a third screen.
6: With having your laptop lid closed you will have two screens showing side by side in the Display settings. Please use the “Identify” button to confirm the visual layout of the screens matches the physical layout on your monitors.
7: If these are the correct way around there is nothing you need to do.
8: If the screens are not the correct way around the can simply drag the screens to the relevant positions in the Display settings. Once the visual layout matching the physical layout please select apply and this will set this for you.
9: If you have the laptop lid open when “Display settings” shows it will show the laptop screen as a third screen Please use the “Identify” button to confirm the visual layout of the screens matches the physical layout on your monitors.
10: If these are the correct way around there is nothing you need to do.
11: If the screens are not the correct way around the can simply drag the screens to the relevant positions in the Display settings. Once the visual layout matching the physical layout please select apply and this will set this for you
12: If you have had to change the layout in “Display Settings” you may find that the incorrect screen shows you the full Toolbar showing notifications, sound levels and battery life may be on the incorrect screen. If you wish to change this screen please select the relevant screen and then ensure that “Make this my primary display” is ticked. If This is not ticked please tick it.
