A recent update to our policies on Web Extensions has caused most all web browser extensions to be blocked. Only work critical apps can now be downloaded and used, non-approved apps will give the message that they are blocked.

If you believe an app should be whitelisted and available for use, please make a software request here: Helpdesk: IT Service Desk (rgu.ac.uk)

FAQ

Can I get an Ad-Blocker whitelisted

Due to issues of Community Maintained apps on enterprise environments and the borderline un-ethical nature of these apps, our blanket response to this is No, we won't be whitelisting ad-blockers.

Can Students Request Extensions to be whitelisted

No, only staff members can make the request. If a student believes a web extension should be available, make the request through a course leader/lecturer.

What is considered "Work Critical" extensions

These are extensions that without access to it, would make it either impossible to complete work, or hinder them to the point of unnecessarily increasing workload that the extension would otherwise avoid.

Extensions that are also Accessibility assistance for Disabilities or Learning Difficulties would also fall under this and access to these apps would be accepted as "Work Critical".
